Another shot of yesterday's blowout. This time, I put a little more thought and setup into it, including a light table and some polarized filters.
For those who don't know, this is what one looks like brand new.

This is a 750 watt halogen lamp that decided to blow a hole in itself. It was very loud. I took some quick shots tonight with a LED flashlight as my only source. I hope to do a better setup tomorrow to capture the the entire blowout in focus.

Blown Lamp
We blew out a lamp, and I happened to have my macro lens with me today. Unlike the photo I took on the 26th, this one is far from SOOC.
For the nerds out there, this is an HPL 575w lamp from a Source 4 ERS.

"Runaway Gnome"
This is a 5kW lamp that someone left their fingerprint on. The oil from the fingerprint eventually got hot enough to blow that hole. But enough about what it is, I think this picture came out really cool. The shadow of an Elf climbing down the side of it was a happy accident. The lines in the shadow of the quartz are excellent. I used a small halogen light source to create the crisp shadow.
I'm thinking about entering this in the "monochrome or color" contest on DGrin.com. Let me know what you think.
Matt Pilsner > 5kW Lamp in a big ass fresnel. The lamp was only at 3%.
